Wellfound Mobile Proxies for Job Listing and Company Page Checks

Wellfound, the startup jobs board that grew out of AngelList, shows candidates company pages, job listings with salary and equity ranges, and a search filtered by role, location and remote policy. Companies post jobs, manage a company page and source candidates from the recruiter side. The candidate view is shaped by location in ways a recruiter rarely sees: the default search location, the salary currency, which jobs count as local, and how a remote job labelled for US time zones is presented. A company that wants to see its listings as a candidate in New York sees them needs a New York address on a phone network. Dedicated Mobile Proxies gives you that modem, with only your traffic on it.

The candidate view is local

Wellfound's search defaults to a location derived from the visitor's address, and a candidate who never changes it sees jobs sorted around that place. Salary ranges are shown in the candidate's currency. Remote jobs carry region restrictions, and a listing marked for US-based candidates is presented differently to a visitor the site believes is elsewhere. Company pages show the jobs open to that visitor rather than every job.

A carrier address in New York resolves to New York, so the search defaults there, salaries show in dollars and US-only listings show as available. Our modems hold AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon SIMs in eight US metros. From a cloud server or an office abroad the same company page may hide half of its listings.

Checking your own listings and company page

The routine is to open your company page from the modem and record which jobs are shown, how each salary and equity range renders, whether the remote labels read as intended, and how the company description, team and perks sections look on a phone. Then run the searches a candidate would run for each role and record where your listing appears and which competing listings surround it. Same modem, same hour, each day while the roles are open.

Listings expire, get bumped and get re-sorted as applications arrive. Reading from one fixed origin means a change in position is a real change. Nobody else is on the modem, so the address does not move between readings unless the carrier resets it, and even then it remains a local carrier address.

Competitor listings and market pay

Every company's listings are public. Reading the listings of the companies you compete with for engineers in your metro, from the modem, shows the salary and equity ranges they publish to candidates in that metro, how they describe the role and which perks they lead with. That is market research a hiring manager would do by hand anyway. Do it at a candidate's pace, a few pages a day, and never scrape candidate profiles; those are private data, and Wellfound's terms and privacy law both forbid it. Keep a dated note of each competing range so that when one of them moves, you know the week it moved and can adjust your own listing before candidates notice the gap.

The recruiter account from one origin

Recruiter accounts can message candidates and view profiles, so Wellfound watches them closely. Recruiters who sign in from home, the office and a conference network in one week meet verification prompts, and recruiting agencies that operate several clients' accounts with permission meet them daily. Putting each company's recruiter account on its own modem gives it one origin, one carrier, one metro, an address held as long as the carrier keeps it, and nobody else on the modem to rotate it. Unrelated client companies should never share one modem.

Monthly plans run $69 on 4G and $79 on 5G with unlimited data, and a two-hour test at $2 or $3 confirms the location reading before you commit.

What not to do

Do not create candidate accounts to test the apply flow; a test application lands in a real company's pipeline. Do not operate more than one recruiter account per company through the modem. Do not harvest candidate data. The modem is for reading your own listings as candidates do and keeping your real account on a stable origin, and that is all.

Setting up a Wellfound proxy on Dedicated Mobile Proxies

  1. Order a modem in the metro where you hire and choose a carrier.
  2. Confirm Wellfound's search defaults to that metro from the modem.
  3. Record how your company page and each listing render daily.
  4. Read competing listings for your roles at a candidate's pace.
  5. Sign in to the recruiter account from the same profile and keep it sticky.

Wellfound proxy questions

Does Wellfound default the search to the modem's city?

Yes. The carrier address resolves to the metro and the search starts there, with salaries in dollars.

Can I test the apply flow with a candidate account?

No. Test applications land in real pipelines. Read the listing and stop.

Can a recruiting agency run several clients through one modem?

One modem per client company, so each recruiter account keeps its own origin.

What if we hire in two of your cities?

Run two modems, or move one between our cities from the dashboard for free.
